Opening Hours (Clubhouse)

  • Summer: Sunday 30 March 2008 to 26 October 2008
    Monday to Friday: 8.00am to 11.00pm.
    Or 1 ½ hours after sunset whichever is the earlier .

  • Winter: Sunday 27 October 2008 to 28 March 2009
    Monday to Friday: 8.00am to 6.30pm.
    Or 1 ½ hours after sunset whichever is the earlier .

TERMS and CONDITIONS FOR VISITORS

1. Players should check in with the Professional at least 20 minutes before the start time.

2. The number in the party must not exceed that indicated in the application and a list of players taking part must be provided when paying the Green Fees. Players should observe normal golfing courtesies and etiquette on the course, including repairing pitch marks replacing divots and raking bunkers.

3. All players should have a current handicap certificate with them on the day. The Club reserves the right to refuse access to the course to anyone who does not have a handicap certificate.

4. There is a Practice Area at Gailes for use by Members and Visitors. Practice balls are available from the Professional at a cost of £1 for 25.

5. Visitors will normally play off the yellow (6322 yards) or blue (5553 yards) tees. The blue tees are not designated as ladies’ tees, but ladies may prefer to play from them, although they are welcome to play from the yellow tees. If they so wish Professionals on production of a PGA card and Amateurs with a handicap no higher than 6, may, on obtaining approval from the starter, play off the white (medal) tees (6635 yards).

6. Players are asked to play at a pace that does not hold up or spoil the enjoyment of others. The pace of play will be monitored by Course Marshalls.

7. Reservations for buggies, caddy cars and hired clubs should be made to the Professional’s shop at Glasgow Gailes tel 01294 311561 or to this office tel 0141 942 2011. The charges are:-

8. Visitors are requested to comply with the Dress Code:-

Course

(i) Visitors may not arrive in golf shoes and are required to be dressed no less formally than smart golf attire.

(ii) Shirt with traditional collar or polo neck to be worn and must not be worn loose over trouser waistband.

(iii) Slacks or trousers should be worn. Denims, jogging bottoms and combat style trousers are not permitted.

(iv) Shorts if worn must be tailored and knee length. Safari or combat style shorts may not be worn. If shorts are worn, long hose or short white socks should be worn.

(v) The changing of clothing or golf shoes is not permitted in the car park.

Clubhouse

(i) Appropriate golf attire as defined above may be worn in the the Main Lounge and the Ian McLaren Room.

(ii) Golf shoes may be worn only in the changing rooms, hallways, and the Ian McLaren Room.

(iii) The wearing of headgear or waterproof clothing is not permitted in the public rooms or bars.

9. Snack lunches for parties up to 16 are available, without pre-booking. Snack lunches for parties of more than 16, full lunches for any number, high teas and dinners are available but must be booked in advance with the Clubhouse Manager, Fergus McAinsh, tel: 01294 311258, fax 01294 279366, or e-mail fergus.mcainsh@glasgowgolfclub.com. Numbers should be confirmed at least 14 days in advance. High teas and dinners are not available on Saturdays and Sundays. All meals ordered must be paid for.

10. The use of mobile phones is prohibited in the public rooms of the clubhouse and on the course. They must be switched off in these areas.

11. To comply with legislation, smoking is not permitted within the clubhouse.

12. Glasgow Golf Club does not accept liability for the loss of or damage to motor vehicles, personal effects or golf equipment in the clubhouse, in the car park or on the course.

13. Glasgow Gailes is situated just off the Newhouse junction of the A78 south of Irvine.
